One of my very favorite adult beverages has long been the whiskey sour. But for some reason, I’ve never actually made one myself for a couple of reasons. Namely, I never have lemon juice and simple syrup, plus I get nervous adding raw egg white to a drink.
Gotta say though, really quite easy. Made the syrup, grabbed a lemon from my neighbor’s tree (with permission), and got to work.
Hooray whiskey sours!

Nicely done! I do love a cocktail with egg white in it.
My favorite one at a local restaurant is a ‘Pis co Sour’ according to the place that serves it, the drink is the ‘Peruvian national drink’ it’s delicious though and so is the food at this Peruvian place. I hope it survives....

I’m suddenly thirsty . It’s not yet noon here, but hey it’s almost 5:00 in Dublin. Also, pandemic drinking knows no clock.
Lately I’ve been using a dash of agave (usually reserved for margaritas) instead of simple syrup. Always on hand, and it’s slightly better for you than regular sugar in simple syrup. Also, no boiling.

We vacationed down there years ago... and every bar has their unique version of a Pisco Sour. All damn good, btw. You can even get ‘em in Chile, although the Peruvians seem provincial about theirs being better...

I’ve been re-binge’ing Mad Men and it’s making me thirsty for classic Old Fashioneds... Need to get to work on that.

I knew a guy who drank a couple of raw eggs every day and, as far as I know, he’s still alive.

We have a little bit of heavy cream left that needs to be used so I am planning on making a brandy Alexander tonight. Cheers!

I haven’t had a drink in thirty years, but I always liked a Harvey Wallbanger.

I’m not a sophisticate, so I’m not very experienced in making egg-based drinks other than some very nice and very strong egg nog I made with rye a while back. Yowza.

They are quite common in cocktail bars here in France too, you ca n also replace the Pisco with Cognac or Armagnac depending on your tastes and what bottles you have .
And you can make the cocktail using dried egg white powder, making it easier to make/have the ingredients on hand .

W hiskey sours are my standard go-to when out , so refreshing.
At home, my go-to is the clover club, since most bars won’t make them. Also involves a raw egg, but I substitute a tablespoon of pasteurized egg whites - no salmonella risk, and it does the job just as well.

I love them, but I will only order them from a few places. There’s a surprising number of bars that think a whiskey sour is just whiskey and sour mix. Blech!
Plus, they are time consuming to make, so even with a good bartender, I’ll generally only order them if the place isn’t very busy.

I love a good rye whiskey. Whistlepig is definitely my favorite.

I’ve actually never made one of those. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever even bought Galliano. But I’ve had them at cocktail bars, and I give them a thumbs up.

I know there used to be more people that drank raw eggs, but I haven’t heard of anyone doing so in years. I know I wouldn’t do it on its own. It seems...offputting.

I actually made this last night, but forgot to post it. However, with the egg, I suppose you could make the stretch and say it’s a breakfast drink. :)
I have a bottle of agave syrup in the back of my pantry, but I honestly can’t think of the last time I used it. I wonder if it goes bad eventually...

A good pisco sour is hard to pass up. In fact, it’s one of the few brandy-based drinks I genuinely enjoy.

I don’t think it goes ‘bad’.....and with alcohol everything is fine!
